Our Partners

Our partners are diverse. They include non-profit organizations, private companies, local governments, politicians, charitable organizations, and more. If you want to help reduce disparities that result from food apartheids, we partner with you.

A Community-First Approach

We partner with community members and community organizations in food apartheids to gauge services that are needed and those that aren’t. We never want to offer services that are not relevant and do not help our clients. We use a community-first approach to inform every service we provide to empower community members in their choices in obtaining healthy food. See our Client Portfolio page here to learn more about our work finding solutions for local communities.

This Month's Partnership Spotlight:

Carry and SuperbEats

Our newest partnership is with Carry and SuperbEats. Through partnership with Carry and SuperbEats, we hope to bring delivery services to a place that is more accessible for all communities. We also hope to increase the use of food that is thrown out or unused at local grocery stores.

Community Partners

1     2nd Chance Foods and BarnBox Direct

We work with the company 2ndChance Foods and BarnBox Direct to deliver affordable and healthy groceries directly to neighborhoods. These fresh, healthy foods may be rejected from supermarkets or thrown away for lack of “aesthetic” appeal but they are just as nutritious and delicious. Sometimes food is even thrown out just because the company decides to use a new packaging graphic! Our clients are able to pick out the type and quantity of groceries they need and have them delivered right to their doorstep, reducing hassle of going grocery shopping, reducing food waste, and reducing carbon emissions of transportation by targeting a whole neighborhood in one delivery trip.

2     Slow Food USA: School Gardens

We are partnering with the Slow Food USA School Garden program because we believe it is important for children to have a hands-on understanding of fresh food from an early age. Children can learn to appreciate fresh foods which will help when introducing new produce with our other fresh food delivery services. (School Garden Program • Slow Food USA., accessed 2022)

3.    SupurbShuttle

SuperbShuttle is originally an airport transportation service in which you can schedule a shuttle to or from the airport. We have partnered with SuperbShuttle to create “SuperbShuttle Fresh,” a shuttle program that runs multiple times daily from central neighborhood locations in food apartheids right to grocery stores and farmers markets and offers return transportation. This service allows our clients to access fresh food without needing to walk long distances or arranging personal transportation. In some communities we provide SuperbShuttle Fresh, in others we may help fund the construction of a community garden to increase access to fresh fruits and veggies.

4     Sustenance Trust

The Sustenance Trust is a nonprofit organization that works with schools, grocers, local farmers, policymakers, neighborhoods, and community members to push forth different food access projects. One of the Sustenance Trust's projects is establishing an expanding network of farmer's markets throughout Philadelphia that accept SNAP/EBT. Transformative Food Solutions has partnered with the Sustenance Trust to facilitate connections between farmer's markets across the country and the USDA Food and Nutrition Service, in order to authorize local farmer's markets to accept SNAP/EBT as valid forms of payment throughout the nation. With our current progress, we expect for all farmer's markets in the United States to accept SNAP/EBT by the end of 2030.

5     Farm Box

We are excited to announce that we are partnering with Farm Box Direct. This company delivers organic produce throughout the US. It is also the first grocery delivery system to partner with SNAP, allowing participants to use food stamps for their groceries. Plus delivery is completely free for SNAP participants! (Organic Produce Delivery Service, accessed 2022)

6     Multicultural Marketing Internship Program

We work with the Multicultural Marketing Internship Program, or MMIP, which provides professional development and work experience within the advertising industry to college-age students of color (MAIP, n.d.). We provide leadership training and education during the program to make participants aware. Additionally, by acting as a bridge, we connect the diverse talent of MMIP with the marketing components of large food companies. In doing so, we provide job opportunities to young professionals in which they can bring in their culturally humility-based perspectives and end negative stereotyping within targeted marketing and its subsequent health outcomes.

Funding Partners

The Mill and Belinda Gates Foundation

This nonprofit organization supports the fight against impoverishment, health impairment, and inequity internationally. We have partnered with them to receive grant commitments to fund our services such as SuperbShuttle Fresh, 2ndChances Foods, and BarnBox direct delivery so that our clients can utilize these services free of charge. Transformative Food Solutions takes care of applying for these grants and services so our clients don't have to.

2

Ownman's Own Foundation

This foundation provides grants to nutrition programs in order to increase access to fresh food and improve nutrition education in marginalized communities. The Ownman's Own Foundation is currently funding our School Lunch Programs, through which we focus on improving the health content of school lunches by working with local grocers, as well as providing nutrition education in schools about the benefits of a healthy diet. Read more about our School Lunch Programs here.

3

Developer Genesis

Developer Genesis is a private organization that provides grants to support app developers. The Developer Genesis team helped fund our project application, App-etise. With their funding, we were able to develop a new app and launch it for use. Through further partnership and grants with Developer Genesis, we hope to create more online tools that clients can use to support the communities in need.

4

Local Food Financing Program

The Local Food Financing Program (LFFP) provides grants to improve access to local, fresh foods through expanding local food businesses and consumer marketing (Local Food Promotion Program | Agricultural Marketing Service, n.d.). We work together by connecting local food businesses to top-notch marketing experts and funding them so that they can grow accordingly and ethically. Further, we utilize these grants to fund our services, including 2ndChances Foods and BarnBox direct delivery, to ensure these services are free for recipients.
